STUMPTOWN BBQ COOKOFF

We're back from our latest competition, the Stumptown BBQ Cookoff in Whitefish, MT, our first cook in the US! It was a great event, we'll definitely be back again next year. There were a total of 17 teams this weekend, a lot of which we haven't had a chance to cook with before.

 We broke the Brisket Curse and got a call for 6th place in Brisket! We finished 8th overall with a 7th place finish in ribs, and 8th in both chicken & pork. Now that it seems like everything is coming together, we're looking forward to our final cook of the year at BBQ on the Bow, September 1-2.

TOONTOWN SMOKEDOWN RECAP

Another competition done, a few more ribbons to add to the shelf. We finished 8th overall, taking 1st in Chef's Choice, 5th in chicken, 4th in pork & 3rd in ribs! Brisket was not do good, so it's back to basics for the next comp.

TOONTOWN SMOKEDOWN

Well, we got everything set up and we're having a great time!

We turned in our Chef's Choice entry, it turned out really great! Saskatoon marinated duck breast salad with farmers sausage, sausage stuffed elk tenderloin with sweet potato hash, and bourbon cheesecake for dessert.

It's been just over a week since our second trip out West at the BC Festival of BBQ and Chili.  It was a great event with over 30 teams, lots of great competition.  We were lucky enough to set-up beside the folks at Landshark BBQ and Sugar's BBQ.
There's trouble...















On Saturday, we entered the Chef's Choice and the Ultimate Burger challenge, finishing 5th & 4th respectively.

Chef's Choice
Teriyaki Bison, chilled arctic char/arugula salad with a ginger-lime vinagrette, bourbon cheesecake.

80/20 Alberta Chuck burger on ciabatta bun with chipotle mayo, truffled french fries cooked in duck fat.

Sunday we didn't do as well as we were hoping, so there's some improvement for Saskatoon.  We tried a few things that ended up falling flat, but finished with an 8th place finish in ribs.

New Paint Job

Todd finished painting the rig, it'll look good rolling down the highway on our way to Langley. We'll be at The BC Festival of BBQ and Chili, hosted at the Cascades Casino next weekend. Should be a great time, we're looking to capitalise on our good showing at Cloverdale last month, and make some improvements to our brisket.
